My conversation with Melinda Colon, a strategist who has mastered the labyrinth of government contracting, was not merely a lesson in bureaucracy. It was a masterclass in mindset, stability, and the art of seeing abundance where others see red tape. Melinda’s philosophy is rooted in a simple, powerful truth: the government is just people. And people have problems that need solving.

## The Mindset of Infinite Opportunity

Most business owners stand on the periphery of government contracting (GovCon), paralyzed by the assumption that they are too small. We see billion-dollar defense headlines and assume there is no room for the graphic designer, the janitorial service, or the IT consultant. Melinda dismantles this myth immediately.

**To win in this space, you must stop seeing the government as a monolith and start seeing them as a consumer with a very large wallet and very specific needs.**
