PodGlue now notices when nobody shows up

Last week I added a button. When a guest misses a pre-interview call, you click Mark no-show, the call stays on your calendar, and your guest gets a friendly note with a link to pick a new time.

It works. But it still relies on you remembering to click it, right after you've been stood up. That is exactly the moment you want to close the laptop.

What changed

PodGlue now checks for you.

About half an hour after a booked call ends, PodGlue asks Zoom who was in the room. If it was only you, the booking is marked a no-show, your guest gets the "we missed you" note, and you get a short email saying what happened.

The booking tells you how it knows: "Spotted from Zoom: you waited 12 minutes."

If the guest joined some other way, say from a different link, open the booking and click Undo no-show. It goes straight back to confirmed.

PodGlue never guesses. If the Zoom room was never opened, maybe because you recorded somewhere else, it leaves the booking alone. Same if Zoom can't answer. You can always mark it yourself.

Rescheduling got fixed too

While I was in there, I found something embarrassing. When you rescheduled a booking from PodGlue, only Google calendars were ever moved, and anything that went wrong stayed quiet. The message still said everything was fine.

Now your calendar event moves on Google or Outlook. If the booking's Zoom room is gone, PodGlue makes a new one and sends your guest the link. And the message after you reschedule says what actually happened, including when something didn't.

Outlook users with a Zoom link on their bookings were also sending guests two invites for every call. That's down to one. Bookings without Zoom still get a separate Teams invite, since that is where the meeting link lives.

What it looks like

Say your guest misses Thursday's call. You wait ten minutes, give up, and get on with your day.

Half an hour later you get an email: they didn't join, they've been sent a link to rebook, and the after-call emails are off. Friday morning, they've picked Monday. You didn't touch anything.

What is next

The no-show history is already on every guest's timeline. Next I want it to show up where you book, so you know before you hold a slot for someone who has missed twice.

A missed call usually isn't a lost guest. It's a crossed calendar. That is what PodGlue is for: keeping the relationship moving, even when the first call doesn't happen.
