People don't talk in clean sentences. We say "um." We say "the the." We start a thought, stop, and start again.
That's how real conversation sounds. And it was costing you clips.
What was wrong
Good clip moments were disappearing. When PodGlue finds clip moments, the AI picks a line from your episode and hands back the exact quote, so PodGlue can find where it happens in the recording.
Except the AI kept tidying the quote. It would drop an "um" or clean up a stutter. Then PodGlue couldn't find that tidied line in your transcript, so it threw the moment away. You'd see a small note saying a few moments "could not be located," and that was it.
The episode menu was in the way. On the episode page, the menu of steps (Prepare, Capture, Amplify) is supposed to stay put while you scroll. On a phone it stuck a little too far down the screen, right on top of what you were reading. On a laptop it floated well below the top bar and ran off the bottom of the screen.
What changed
PodGlue now looks past the "ums," the repeated words, the punctuation and the timestamps when it matches a quote to your transcript. If every real word is there, in order, the moment is kept.
It's still strict where it matters. If the AI rewords a line, even by one word, PodGlue won't guess where it goes. A clip that starts in the wrong place is worse than no clip.
The menu now sits right under the top bar and stays there. Nothing scrolls behind it.
A concrete example
I tested this on an interview I did with Jonathan Stark on his show, Ditching Hourly. Forty-three minutes. The AI found eight clip moments.
Before the fix, PodGlue kept five. Three were thrown out because I'd said "uh" in the middle of a sentence, or "the the" at the start of one.
After the fix, all eight made it.
What's next
I'm going to keep running clip moments against real episodes, mine and yours, and fixing whatever still slips through.
Your best moments are usually the unpolished ones. PodGlue should keep them, not tidy them away. If you're using clip moments and something still looks off, tell me.
