Put the names on screen after you've already recorded

Most of my episodes are already recorded by the time I think about graphics.

The live overlay I built for Ecamm is great when I remember to use it. It does nothing for the hundreds of episodes I recorded before it existed.

So I made the same graphics work after the fact.

In the Edit tab you pick a word in the transcript and add a graphic there: my name, a guest's name, a question. Render the edit and PodGlue now writes two videos.

One is the clean video, exactly as before. The other has the graphic drawn on.

I tried it on my own trailer. I put my name and the show title where I say "My name is Junaid", rendered it, and downloaded both files.

The graphic shows for five seconds, right where I placed it, and nowhere else. The two videos are the same length to within about a hundredth of a second.

I kept the clean one separate on purpose. Clips and any later edit come from that file, so a name bar never ends up inside a vertical clip where it doesn't fit.

A few things worth knowing.

It works for recordings up to 25 minutes, which suits YouTube. You can add graphics to a finished episode without cutting anything. And if you use Arabic in a graphic, it's drawn in a proper Arabic font. I tested that with the Names of Allah before anything went out.

Showing the graphic over the video while you edit is next. Right now you place it, render, and watch.

I want the names and questions PodGlue already knows to follow an episode all the way from preparing it to publishing it. This is another step in that direction.
