When I built the part of PodGlue that learns how you sound, I built it for people like me. My show supports a business. So the questions asked about your ideal client, your case studies, your take on your industry.
Then a beta tester who podcasts for the love of it hit that section and stopped. What do you write under "ideal client" when you don't have clients?
Fair question. A lot of the best shows I listen to don't.
What changed
Setup now asks one thing early: What is your podcast mainly for?
- Growing a business
- A passion or hobby
- Building community
If you pick business, nothing changes. You get the same six documents as before.
If you pick hobby or community, you get four. The three business ones are gone. In their place is one called Show & Audience Profile: what the show is about, why you make it, who you picture listening, and who you'd love to have on.
And that profile actually gets used. When PodGlue writes show notes, social posts or emails, it knows what your show is about, and it's told not to treat your show like a business unless you say it is.
You can change your answer any time in Settings. Anything you've already written stays put.
A concrete example
Say you run a show about restoring old synthesizers. You chat with other collectors and swap stories.
Before: PodGlue asked you what product you sell and what transformation you deliver. You either made something up or skipped it.
Now: it asks what the show is about and who you picture listening. You write "people who get excited about a 1983 Juno with a dead voice chip." That's the voice PodGlue writes in.
What's next
The AI profile still works by copying prompts into your own AI tool and pasting the results back. That's the part people find the most work. Next, we're looking at letting you do that interview right inside PodGlue.
Whatever your show is for, PodGlue should fit the show, not the other way around.

Verbs, Not Nouns: Tidying Up PodGlue's Sidebar
A beta tester pointed out that PodGlue's sidebar mixed verbs and nouns, and that the Planner talked to itself instead of to you. Both were right.
